Sports Massage

Sports Massage
There Are Three Types of Sports Massage:

Pre-event Sports Massage prepares the athlete mentally and physically prior to competition. This type of massage is performed just prior to the athletic event. It is a rhythmic, faster pace massage that warms muscles and increases circulation. It often helps in calming and focusing the athlete before the event.

Post-event Sports Massage flushes out the metabolic wastes (like lactic acid) that are responsible for muscle fatigue. It also helps decrease localized inflammation resulting from the strenuous activity and speeds the healing and recovery of the athlete after an event. It can also include specific work if an athlete had a minor soft tissue injury during the event so as to speed healing of that injury.

Maintenance Sports Massage is administered between events to enhance strength training, maintain flexibility and reduce risk of injury. Maintaining a regular massage schedule has been shown to greatly improve athletes recovery from training exercise so as to be in the best shape possible when the next sporting event comes around.

Body Basics staff is highly educated and experienced in the treatment of common sports injuries as well as muscle training that pertains to a particular sport. Scientific stretching techniques are incorporated into each sports massage session as part of client education and muscle maintenance
